Bar Description
Whether you’re looking to shave strokes off your game or just want to “Sand Wedge” into a great burger, The Engine House – Golf and Social Lounge in Pennsville is a hole-in-one for South Jerseyโs entertainment scene.
Swing Into Style
Established in June 2023, The Engine House is the brainchild of co-owners Johnny Maxwell and Fred Ayers, two local Salem County firefighters who transformed an abandoned lot (formerly Sidelines) into a stunning, new-construction gastropub. From the street, the bold blue metal and stone accents catch your eye, but the real “wow” factor happens the moment you step through the doors. The interior features a soaring two-story atrium with a mezzanine that overlooks the heart of the venueโa massive central bar that feels both stately and inviting.
The Experience: Beyond the Fairway
While the name screams golf, the vibe says “stay a while.” The venue is anchored by four premium Full Swing Pro 2.0 golf simulatorsโthe same tech used by PGA pros. These bays aren’t just for serious golfers; they offer family-friendly game modes and, on game days, the massive 4K projectors transform the bays into movie-theater-quality screens for the big game.
The layout is a masterclass in social design. Each simulator bay has its own dedicated “mansion library” style lounge seating, keeping your group together while remaining connected to the energy of the main bar. If youโre not swinging a club, you can relax in high-top or low-top tables, enjoy a flight of local brews, or participate in their regular community events like Magic Mondays, Music Bingo, and Bar Trivia.
Gastropub Greatness
The “Social” half of the lounge is handled by a creative kitchen that punches well above its weight. Enthusiasts rave about the “Yuuuge Pretzel” and the Slider Flights that let you sample everything from braised short rib to hot honey breaded chicken. The drink menu is equally impressive, featuring a rotating selection of local South Jersey taps (including Mudhen, Farmers & Bankers, and Bonesaw) alongside a sophisticated signature cocktail list with appropriately named drinks like the “Hole in One” and the “Fore Alarm Margarita.”

Hi! Do you know if they make any plugins to help
with Search Engine Optimization? I’m trying to get my blog
to rank for some targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very
good success. If you know of any please share. Thanks!

I honestly never knew this place was here and it really is a hidden gem. We stopped a couple of Saturdays ago to grab some dinner and drinks. First impression was that the building looked like a cool modern barn. There was plenty of parking, inside was a very nice relaxed vibe. Inside is made to look like the outside of a firehouse. They had a mix of low and high top tables. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server came right over and took our drink order. We ordered the pretzel and one of their pizzas and a chicken sandwich. The food was very good. I do wish they had more options for sides such a fries or onion rings. They only offer chips(which was a small portion). My chicken sandwich was very good, I would definitely get it again. They also have good sims that you can use. Which looked fun, we didn’t try one out this time.
