Who we are
DrinkSJ (Drink South Jersey) is a directory of South Jersey bars, breweries, wineries, events and live music. It is owned and operated by Allen Technical LLC, based in New Jersey (“DrinkSJ”, “we”, “us”).
This policy covers the DrinkSJ website at drinksj.com and the DrinkSJ mobile app for iPhone and Android. It explains what information we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have.
The short version: we do not sell your information, we do not share it for advertising, and the app does not track you. Questions go to joe@DrinkSJ.com.
Information we collect
You can browse DrinkSJ and use the app without an account. We collect only what is needed for the features you use.

Public by design: business listings, menus, events, and reviews (shown with your name) are published on the website and in the app.
The DrinkSJ mobile app
The app shows bars, beers on tap, events and live music near you. It contains no ads, no analytics and no third-party tracking.
- Location. If you allow it, the app uses your phone’s location to find results near you. Your location is sent with each search so our server can work out distances. It is not saved to an account or profile, and it is never shared or sold. Our web server logs may briefly record these requests for security and troubleshooting. If you don’t allow location, the app uses a central South Jersey location instead. You can change this anytime in your phone’s settings.
- Saved bands. Bands you star are stored only on your phone. We never receive them.
- No account needed. Patrons can use every feature without signing in.
- Bar owner sign-in. Bar owners can sign in with their DrinkSJ account to update menus and events. The app keeps a sign-in token in your phone’s secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore). Signing out removes it from the phone and cancels it on our server. Tokens expire after 180 days.
- Reviews in the app. Reviews appear with the reviewer’s first name and last initial.
- Maps. Maps are shown by Apple Maps on iPhone and Google Maps on Android. Those services receive the map area being viewed, under their own privacy policies.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Show listings, menus, events and live music, including results near you
- Run accounts, let owners manage their listings, and publish reviews
- Process Featured Listing payments and send receipts
- Prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and keep the service secure
- Understand which pages and features are used so we can improve them
- Answer your messages and send important notices about your account or listing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with data brokers or advertisers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. We only share it with the service providers listed below, to run the features described, or when the law requires it.

These providers receive only what they need to perform their service, under their own privacy policies.

Pages may also embed content from other sites, such as YouTube videos or links to Facebook, TikTok, and bars’ own websites. Embedded content behaves as if you visited that site, which may set its own cookies.
Cookies
The website uses cookies. The app does not.
- Sign-in cookies keep you logged in. They last 2 days, or 2 weeks if you choose “Remember Me”, and are removed when you log out.
- Comment cookies remember your name and email for your next review, only if you opt in. They last one year.
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics (
_ga) count visits and pages viewed. They last up to two years. - Payment cookies from Stripe (
__stripe_mid,__stripe_sid) help prevent payment fraud. - reCAPTCHA sets cookies on pages with forms to tell people from bots.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block sign-in cookies, you won’t be able to log in. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
How long we keep it
- Accounts are kept until you ask us to delete them.
- Reviews and comments stay published until you or we remove them.
- Listings, menus and events stay until the business is removed or the owner deletes them. Past events may remain as an archive.
- Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time for security, then deleted.
- Location from the app is not stored beyond those logs.
Security
The website and app use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored hashed, app sign-in tokens are stored hashed on our server, and POS credentials are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit access to your information and review our safeguards regularly.
Your choices and rights
- See or update your information: edit your profile on the My Account page, or email us for a copy of what we hold.
- Delete your account: email joe@DrinkSJ.com from the address on your account. We will delete your account and personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep by law. Reviews you posted are removed or anonymized, as you prefer.
- Remove a review: email us with a link to the review.
- Location: turn location access off for the app in your phone’s settings at any time.
- Analytics: block cookies or use Google’s opt-out add-on.
- Opt out of sale or targeted advertising: there is nothing to opt out of. We do neither.
We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live, and we won’t treat you differently for making one.
Age
DrinkSJ is about bars and alcohol and is intended for adults 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you believe a minor has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will post a notice on the website or in the app before it takes effect.
