Bar Description
If youโre looking for a spot that defines the “neighborhood local” with a massive side of value, Irish Hill Tavern in Runnemede is a must-visit. It’s one of the many places I frequent around South Jersey.ย Located on Clements Bridge Road, this tavern has become a cornerstone of the community by focusing on two things South Jersey loves: a friendly, welcoming vibe and daily specials that are actually pocket-friendly.ย I mean, sometimes you wonder how they make any money off their specials because they are so good.ย Don’t let the “Irish” part fool you.ย The name comes from the street it’s located next to.ย ย You also won’t find pizza this good at an Irish bar.ย
The history of the location is part of its charm. In 2021, the venue was taken over by Ed Donohueโa legendary figure in the local bar scene formerly associated with Westmontโs Irish Mile and Runnemedeโs The Mile. Donohue transformed the space (previously known as The Vault) into Irish Hill Tavern, adding a signature covered outdoor patio and refreshing the interior while keeping the approachable, “everyone is local here” atmosphere. Whether youโre a lifelong resident or just passing through, itโs the kind of place where youโre greeted with a smile and a cold pint.
Features & Highlights
The heartbeat of Irish Hill Tavern is its Daily Specials. From Garlic Parmesan wings and Pierogies to their famous double cheeseburgers, the kitchen turns out high-quality “gourmet bar fare” at prices that feel like a throwback. For those craving something traditional, their Corned Beef and Cabbage is a local favorite that draws a crowd well beyond St. Patrick’s Day.
The bar program is equally impressive. Craft beer enthusiasts will find a rotating selection of 20+ drafts, including local New Jersey favorites from breweries like Bonesaw and Cape May, alongside an extensive list of bottled beers and hard seltzers.ย It’s not top notch craft beer, but even the beer snobs will find something to drink here,ย Kudos to them for being on Untappd also.
For entertainment, the tavern is a premier Sports Bar destination with multiple HD screens (both inside and on the covered patio) tuned to the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers. If you need a break from the game, you can hit the jukebox or challenge friends to a round of classic arcade games.

1 Review on “Irish Hill Tavern”
Irish Hill Tavern is not much to look at from the outside. I probably would never have stopped here to eat but it was recommended so we stopped in one time a few years back and it has become one of our regular spots in our rotation. The staff is always very friendly. The food is good, cheap and huge portions. They do have craft beer, not a large selection but normally have at least one or two good ones. They also have some great specials on food and drinks. They have lots of seating my only complaint is their parking. They don’t have enough parking for all of the seating.
