House Of Brews

If you’re looking for a spot that spearheaded the craft beer movement in South Jersey, look no further than House of Brews (often simply called “HOB”). Established in October 2011 in the space that once housed the old Fuddrucker’s on Route 42, HOB was one of the area’s first dedicated “Craft Beer Bars.” Since its birth under proprietor Drew Flannery, it has transitioned from a new kid on the block to a seasoned veteran of the Turnersville dining and drinking scene.

Walking in, the first thing you’ll notice is that this isn’t a corporate chain; it has a lived-in, local-tavern feel. It is a high-energy environment—especially on weekend nights when the volume goes up—and the 25+ HD TVs make it a clear choice for sports fans. Patrons should expect a social, buzzing atmosphere that can get quite loud, reflecting its status as a popular neighborhood hub.

The Drink Experience

For a bar-focused enthusiast, the “Brew” in the name is no exaggeration. HOB is designed for the serious beer drinker. They feature 24 rotating taps that change frequently (sometimes daily), ensuring that even regulars can find something new.

While they carry the big names, the draft list shines when it highlights local and regional breweries like Bonesaw, Cape May, and Tonewood. If you aren’t sure where to start, they offer beer flights, which is the most honest way to navigate their extensive selection. Beyond the taps, they boast a massive bottle and can list—historically around 80 varieties—ranging from easy-drinking lagers to complex imperial stouts.

If you aren’t a beer fan, the bar is fully stocked with a wide selection of spirits and a cocktail menu that includes seasonal “Monthly Drink Specials” (like their house-infused pineapple rum creations).

The Food

The kitchen focuses on American comfort food with an adventurous twist. While the House Burger and Cheesesteak Eggrolls are reliable staples, HOB gained local fame for its “Wild Game” offerings. Depending on the season, you might find Alligator Bites, Elk Burgers, or Bison Burgers on the menu. The wings are a standout—specifically noted for their various sauces like “Maple Bacon” or “Sweet & Spicy Hawaiian Pineapple Rum”—and are a major draw during football season.  One of the best features here is the Monthly Specials Menu.  Each month a additional menu is given to customers that has appetizers, salads, plates, handhelds and deserts that relate to the season.
