Bar Description
If you’re looking for the ultimate bayside retreat where the legacy of the Jersey Shore meets a high-energy music scene, The Oar House Pub is your destination. Located in the heart of Sea Isle City’s historic “Fish Alley,” this waterfront institution is impossible to miss, thanks to the massive, iconic red lobster perched above the entrance. Whether you arrive by car or tie up your boat at one of their dedicated slips, you’re stepping into a venue that perfectly balances relaxed coastal dining with a legendary nightlife vibe.
The history of the property is as deep as the bay it overlooks. The building itself dates back to 1910 and served as a warehouse for the commercial fishing industry for most of the 20th century. It began its life as a restaurant in 1970, originally operating as the famous Lobster Loft. In 2018, owner Jimmy Bennett—a staple in the Sea Isle business community—rebranded the space into the Oar House Pub, shifting the focus toward a spirited, pub-style atmosphere while honoring the neighborhood’s maritime roots.
Features & Highlights
The Oar House is a multi-level powerhouse of entertainment. The main floor features three separate bars and a full stage that hosts some of the best live bands and musicians in South Jersey. If you’re a fan of “Sunday Funday,” their outdoor Alley Bar is the place to be, offering a festive beach bar feel complete with sand, palm trees, and a stage for acoustic acts.
The menu has been recently revamped to focus on “food you can eat and dance with at the same time.” While they are famous for their seafood—including their Giant Lobster Rolls and Crab Cake Sandwiches—the Filet Tip Sandwich and Pulled Pork are high-end favorites for the land-lubbers. For the sports fans, the pub features the NFL Ticket with every game on every Sunday, complemented by competitive drink specials like their signature Orange Crushes. Whether you’re tucked into a dining booth or dancing by the stage, The Oar House offers a true “Fish Alley” experience that keeps you coming back for more.
