Bar Description
If youโre looking for the absolute epicenter of Sea Isle Cityโs “uptown” social scene, youโre looking for KIX. Located at 63rd and Landis, this isn’t just a barโitโs a massive “mega-complex” of drinking and entertainment that has been a Shore staple since 1965. Owned by Sea Isle Cityโs long-standing mayor, Leonard Desiderio, KIX is a family-run operation that has evolved over 55+ years from a single room into a sprawling property featuring six (sometimes seven) distinct bar experiences under one roof.
To be perfectly honest: KIX is a “choose your own adventure” kind of place. Depending on which door you walk through, youโll have a completely different night. It can be a high-energy sweatbox of a nightclub, a relaxed acoustic lounge, or a gritty parking lot hang. It is unapologetically “Sea Isle”โunpretentious, loud, and built for people who want to stay out late.
The Honest Experience: What to Expect
The property is divided into several “personalities”:
-
The Nightclub: This is the heart of the action. It features a massive dance floor and a stage that hosts legendary Shore bands like The Chatterband (a Thursday tradition) and the Sensational Soul Cruisers. If youโre here on a Saturday night in July, expect it to be packed, loud, and high-energy.
-
SideKix Lounge: If the nightclub feels like too much, SideKix offers a more “laid-back” vibe. This is where you go for a White Cosmo or a Martini and live acoustic music. Itโs “intimate” by KIX standards, which still means itโs a bustling bar.
-
The Outside Patio: A covered outdoor space perfect for frozen cocktails and “no-shower happy hours.” Itโs a prime spot to soak in the salt air without being directly in the sun.
-
The KIX Stand: Truly “Americaโs Premier Parking Lot Bar.” This is a seasonal, Saturday-only phenomenon where you literally bring your own beach chair to a cordoned-off section of the parking lot for cheap beers and shots. Itโs no-frills and pure local flavor.
-
The Kit Kat Club: Tucked inside the package goods store, this is the “Smallest Bar with the Biggest Heart”โa tiny spot favored by year-round locals for a quick draft and a lottery ticket.
A Pro Tip: Patrons should know that KIX is largely a cash-only operation at many of its service points, so hit the ATM before you arrive. While the food (specifically the wings and the penne vodka) gets solid marks for “bar grub,” most people are here for the entertainment and the social scene.
