Bar Description
When you are wandering down Atlantic Avenue in Wildwood, just steps from the boardwalk, you will find Copper Dog. As a true enthusiast of a well crafted drink and a lively atmosphere, I can tell you this place hits all the right notes for a South Jersey bar. It opened in May 2023 when two Wildwood natives with decades of hospitality experience returned home to transform the former Kelly’s Cafe into this beautiful spot. They named the establishment after their own copper dog, Vivian.
The drink selection is seriously impressive. When you walk in, you are greeted by a massive 600-bottle wine library that sets the tone for the experience. Whether you grab a stool at the 18-seat indoor bar or the outdoor bar, you are in for a treat. They pour an excellent variety of local craft beers on tap, including favorites from Glasstown and Cape May Brewing, which pair perfectly with their robust cocktail menu. I always appreciate a bar that takes its craft beer and mixology seriously while keeping that laid-back shore vibe.
One of the most unique and honest things about Copper Dog is how dog-friendly it is. If you have pups like Gracie and Lilly at home, you will love bringing them to the outdoor patio and atrium. They even have a specific food menu just for dogs featuring grilled chicken and burgers. If you prefer a pet-free experience, you will want to stick to the huge interior bar, because the patio is a true dog lover’s paradise. The human food is fantastic as well, featuring in-house made Maryland-style crab cakes, brick oven pizza, and fresh sushi. With live entertainment from local artists setting the mood, you will walk out feeling like you found your new favorite summer hangout
