The History
Essie’s is a story of love, dedication, and perseverance, founded by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Mike and Chèrie Gillespie. Their vision to open an upscale restaurant and live music venue in Clementon was delayed first by a catastrophic snowstorm that caused the roof to collapse, and then by the global pandemic. They finally opened their doors around July 2022. The restaurant is named in loving tribute to Mike’s Aunt Essie, who raised him, embodying a dedication to warmth and premium hospitality
