Bar Description
If you’ve ever dined at the legendary Panico’s Bistro in West Cape May and thought, “I wish I could have a glass of wine with this,” your wish has been granted at their sister location, Panico’s Secondo. Situated just over the bridge in Lower Township at the foot of the Cape May Harbor, Secondo takes the soulful, Mediterranean-infused Italian cooking the Panico family is famous for and pairs it with a full-service bar and a sophisticated, upbeat energy.
While Panico’s Bistro (founded in 1997) is a beloved BYOB set in a converted church, Secondo represents the family’s “second act.” It offers a more modern, rustic-chic atmosphere with harbor views and a lively bar scene that doesn’t sacrifice the “Old Country” hospitality that made the original a South Jersey staple.
Features & Highlights
The menu is a vibrant fusion of Italian and Greek influences, focusing on wood-fired flavors and high-quality Mediterranean ingredients. You’ll find the signature Battered Jersey Tomato (layered with crab and bleu cheese) alongside authentic Greek “Meze” like Spanikopita and Roasted Feta with hot Greek honey. Their Brick Oven Pizzas are a major draw, but the “Entrata” section is where the kitchen really flexes, featuring dishes like Sambuca Scallops with fennel cream and Lamb Chops in a vodka sauce.
The bar at Secondo is a destination in its own right, moving away from the BYOB model to offer a curated wine list and upbeat signature cocktails like the Blood Orange Vanilla Martini. For the oyster lovers, they host a popular Oyster Hour (typically Monday–Thursday, 4 PM–5 PM) featuring half-price oysters and drink specials. With live music frequently setting the mood, it’s a spot that manages to feel both upmarket for a date night and welcoming enough for a family Sunday dinner.
