Bar Description
If you haven’t been to The Pub on the Airport Circle in Pennsauken, you haven’t truly experienced South Jersey dining history. Entering this landmark is like stepping through a time portal into a medieval castle. With stone floors, suits of armor, shields, swords, and massive high-beamed ceilings, the atmosphere is “extravagant” in the best way possible. It’s big, it’s loud, and it’s a cherished tradition that has remained a favorite for over 70 years.
A Rich Culinary History
The building itself dates back to the 1930s when it originally opened as a famous nightclub called Neil Deighan’s. In 1951, it was transformed into The Pub by three local families. Despite a catastrophic fire in 1960 that burned the building to the ground, it was immediately rebuilt in its now-iconic Tudor style and has been a staple ever since. It was even recently inducted into the South Jersey Food Scene Hall of Fame.
Features & Ambiance
The main draw is the gigantic open hearth, where you can watch chefs prepare steaks over real charcoal-fired ovens—The Pub remains the only restaurant in the region to still use this traditional method.
-
The Famous Salad Bar: For decades, this has been the “gold standard” of salad bars. It’s unlimited with every entree and features everything from fresh greens and signature dressings to their famous home-baked zucchini bread and even home-made cranberry sauce.
-
Prime Steak Selection: They are legendary for their Prime Rib, but the Filet Mignon, Ribeye, and Porterhouse are equally celebrated.

The Old School Vibe: From the “1-1/2” cocktails to the “puff” bread used to soak up steak juices, every detail feels like a throwback to a grander era of dining.
-
Renovations: Recently, the owners have closed during the summer months for major structural maintenance and upgrades, ensuring this “castle” stands for another 70 years while carefully preserving its vintage, medieval charm.
