History
The Maplewood Inn dates back to 1945 when Joseph Italiano Sr. purchased the property, originally a bus stop named “The Maplewood.” The name was inspired by the magnificent maple tree that towered over the Hammonton location, a symbol of strength and longevity that has since become synonymous with the restaurantโs heritage. The foundation of the Inn was a bar and a simple liquor license, quickly evolving into a culinary destination under the guidance of Joe Italiano, Jr., who made the restaurant famous for bringing authentic Italian home cooking and signature seafood creations to South Jersey. Today, it remains proudly family-operated, reflecting decades of tradition and dedication.
