The Maplewood Inn dates back to 1945 when Joseph Italiano Sr. purchased the property, originally a bus stop named “The Maplewood.” The name was inspired by the magnificent maple tree that towered over the Hammonton location, a symbol of strength and longevity that has since become synonymous with the restaurant’s heritage. The foundation of the Inn was a bar and a simple liquor license, quickly evolving into a culinary destination under the guidance of Joe Italiano, Jr., who made the restaurant famous for bringing authentic Italian home cooking and signature seafood creations to South Jersey.
