Bar Description
A South Jersey Legend Reimagined
For over four decades, A Touch of Italy has been more than just a restaurant on the Black Horse Pike; it has been a culinary landmark in Egg Harbor Township. Originally opened in 1981 by the Palladino family, this venue became famous for its cozy, “log cabin” warmth, roaring fireplace, and distinctively delicious brick-oven pizza. Now, under the stewardship of local restaurateurs Lou Freeman and Holly Pugh, this beloved icon is poised for a spectacular return.
Rising from the ashes of a 2023 closure, the venue is currently undergoing a massive revitalization that promises to blend its old-school Italian charm with a fresh, upscale energy. Enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the reveal of the renovated space, which features raised ceilings, a significantly expanded bar area, and a dedicated stage for live musicโhinting at a return to its roots as a premier spot for evening entertainment. Perhaps most exciting is the addition of a new “speakeasy” style room, adding a layer of modern cocktail culture to the traditional trattoria vibe.
Despite the renovations, the soul of the menu remains untouched. Longtime fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the kitchen will still be sending out the classics that put them on the map. Weโre talking about the legendary Seafood Brick Oven Pizza, the decadent Chicken Sorrentino (topped with prosciutto, eggplant, and mozzarella), and the fan-favorite Linguini Cardinale. The wine list is also getting an upgrade with a brand-new cellar, ensuring the perfect pairing for every dish.
Whether you’re a nostalgic regular waiting to reclaim your favorite barstool or a newcomer looking for a venue that perfectly marries a “Sunday gravy” dinner with a vibrant nightlife lounge, A Touch of Italy is set to reclaim its title as an EHT staple.
