Bar Description
If you’re looking for the crown jewel of waterfront dining in Margate, look no further than Tideline. This stunning three-story addition to the Amherst Avenue marina district is the latest masterpiece from the experienced team behind the iconic Tomatoes restaurant. Tideline isn’t just a bar; it’s a high-design, coastal sanctuary that perfectly captures the “Downbeach” lifestyle.
The Experience & Ambiance
The first thing you’ll notice is the architecture. Built at a high elevation to withstand the elements, Tideline offers a breathtaking open-air dining experience. The ground level features a freestanding marina-level deck—perfect for sipping a handcrafted cocktail while the salt air drifts off the bay. Inside, the space is light, airy, and sophisticated, adorned with curated marine-inspired artwork by local artists Laurie Staller and Matt Neustadter. Despite the luxury feel, the vibe is unassumingly casual: sunglasses and shorts are considered “formal wear” here.
For the Mariners
Tideline has redefined the “Dock and Dine” concept. In a move that local boaters love, the owners opted against seasonal leases for their slips. Instead, they provide 22 transient boat slips and 12 jet ski slips specifically for patrons. They even have a dock master on hand to ensure your arrival by water is as smooth as the bay at sunrise.
The Menu
The kitchen serves up “Coastal Comfort” with a polished twist. Enthusiasts rave about the French-fried lobster tails and the signature Lobster BLT. Whether you’re in the mood for a Skirt Steak with chimichurri or a perfectly executed smash burger, the menu is designed to be fresh, local, and endlessly savory. As the golden hour approaches, the third-floor private event space provides a front-row seat to what is arguably the most spectacular sunset view on Absecon Island.
A Bit of History
The journey to open Tideline was a labor of love spanning nearly a decade. Longtime Margate residents Sean and Jaime Gormley purchased the site—formerly the old Capt. Andy’s Marina—back in 2016. After years of legal wrangling and a determined vision to revitalize the waterfront, they partnered with the Tomatoes Restaurant Group to bring this 8,000-square-foot dream to life in June 2025.
