Bar Description
If you’re looking for a South Jersey landmark that perfectly bridges the gap between legendary sports history and modern refined dining, Rexy’s Restaurant & Bar is a must-visit. Located on the Black Horse Pike in West Collingswood Heights, Rexy’s traces its roots back to 1943. While it’s celebrated its 80th anniversary, it’s anything but “stuck in the past.”
The history here is pure Philadelphia sports lore. In the 1970s, Rexy’s became the unofficial home base for the “Broad Street Bullies” era Philadelphia Flyers. It was the place to be after games, where legends like Bobby Clarke and Dave Schultz would unwind. Following their first Stanley Cup win in 1974, over 8,000 fans reportedly swarmed the streets around Rexy’s hoping to catch a glimpse of the team. While a fire in 1975 tragically forced a rebuild, the restaurant returned stronger, shifting from a dark, old-school Italian tavern motif to the bright, sophisticated, Tuscan-inspired destination it is today.
Features & Highlights
Today, Rexy’s offers a chic yet family-friendly atmosphere that has been completely overhauled by the Lembesis family, who took over in 2008. The interior features beautiful stone and wood accents with a central bar that remains a local hub for sports fans, complete with multiple high-definition TVs.
The menu is a standout, specializing in Italian-inspired cuisine with modern flourishes. While they are famous for their “secret” sausage pizza and traditional favorites like Braciole and Veal Prosciutto, they aren’t afraid to innovate. Signature items like the Ahi Tuna Stack, Cheesesteak Spring Rolls, and their fresh Crab and Corn Chowder are frequently praised by regulars.
One of the newest and most popular features is their Outdoor Dining Expansion. They have added an automated pergola roof system with heating, allowing guests to enjoy the patio and outdoor bar atmosphere nearly year-round. Whether you’re coming in for a celebratory Italian dinner or just a beer and a burger at the bar where champions once stood, Rexy’s continues to be one of the most reliable and storied spots in Camden County.
