Bar Description
If you want to know where Egg Harbor Township locals actually go when they aren’t looking for a “scene,” they go to Juliano’s. Located on Ocean Heights Avenue, this is the definition of a neighborhood anchor. It isn’t flashy, it isn’t trying to be a high-end gastropub, and it certainly isn’t a tourist trap. Instead, it is a family-run institution that has mastered the art of the “third place”—that spot between work and home where everyone seems to know each other.
The history of Juliano’s is a deep-rooted family affair. Owner Michael Juliano grew up in the industry (his father owned the Townhouse Tavern in Philly), and he brought that old-school hospitality to EHT over 30 years ago. Originally known as the Ocean Heights Inn, Michael transformed it into Juliano’s in 1990. After a brief attempt at high-end Italian dining, he realized the neighborhood just wanted a great sandwich and a cold beer, leading to the expanded bar and the relaxed atmosphere that has sustained the business for three decades.
The Real Experience
When you walk in, you’re going to experience a classic, unpretentious tavern environment. It can get loud, especially on a Friday night or during an Eagles game, and the bathrooms are notoriously small—but that’s part of the authentic local charm. The service is the standout here; you’ll likely see staff members who have been there for 15 or 20 years, treating customers like extended family.
Features & Highlights
The menu is built on a “fresh, never frozen” philosophy that you can actually taste. While most pubs pull frozen bags from a freezer, Juliano’s hand-cuts their steaks and uses local seafood from Randall’s.
-
The Wings: They are widely considered some of the best in the township. The Buffalo Garlic wings are the heavy hitters here—crispy, saucy, and consistently a top recommendation.
-
The Bar: With 22 beers on tap, they strike a great balance between domestic staples and local craft favorites like Cape May and Slack Tide.
-
The Food: Don’t sleep on the Buffalo Shrimp, the Grilled Mahi Tacos, or the Homemade House Chips. For something heartier, their Short Rib Mac & Cheese and Certified Angus Burgers (especially the Custom Blend) are honest-to-god winners.
-
The Vibe: There is a nice patio for outdoor dining during the warmer months, and the bar area features the classic “MegaTouch” games that are a staple of any true Jersey pub.
